Magnetization is divided into two directions: longitudinal magnetization, circumferential magnetization, and composite magnetization.
1. Longitudinal magnetization: a method of magnetization that passes current through a coil around a workpiece or through a magnetic flux that causes magnetic lines of force to be parallel to the axial direction of the workpiece. Longitudinal magnetization should be used when detecting defects that are perpendicular to the axis of the workpiece or that have an angle greater than or equal to 45. ![]() Circumferential magnetization: A circular magnetic field generated inside or around a test or test piece when current flows from one end of the test or one end of the test piece to the other end. When detecting defects that are parallel to the axis of the workpiece or with an angle less than 45°, the circumferential magnetization method should be used. ![]() Composite Magnetization - Multi-Directional Magnetization: A magnetic field that produces a small, large, and directionally varying circular, elliptical, or spiral trajectory over time. Composite magnetization methods include cross yoke method and cross coil method ![]() |
