X-ray tomography 1. X-ray computed tomography Industrial CT is a layered cross-sectional image of the workpiece. It can give an image of any plane layer of the workpiece. It can find defects distributed in any direction in the plane. It has the characteristics of non-overlapping, clear hierarchy, high contrast and high resolution. It is easy and accurate. Determine the location and nature of the defect. The digital image signals generated by industrial CT are very convenient for storage and transcription. But the complete detection of a workpiece by CI technology takes much longer than conventional radiography, and the cost is much higher. Industrial CI technology is currently mainly used in the following areas: (a) Defect detection. Mainly used to inspect small, complex and precise castings and forgings as well as large solid rocket motors. The CI system for large solid rocket motors is tested using an electron linac source X-ray source with a capacity of up to 25 MeV to inspect large group rocket engines up to 3 m in diameter. (b) Dimensional measurement. For the size measurement of precision-cast aircraft engine blades, the dimensional error should be no more than 0.1mm. (c) Structure and density distribution inspection. In the aerospace industry, CT technology is used to inspect and evaluate composite materials and conform to structures, as well as the manufacturing process of certain composite parts. Compared with the sampling damage analysis process, this inspection and evaluation process not only simplifies the production process, reduces the cost, but also greatly improves the reliability. CT technology can also be used to check the changes in materials or composition during the manufacturing process of engineering ceramics and powder metallurgy products.
