Non-destructive testing technology introduction

Non-destructive testing (NDT) is a means of detecting the discontinuity of the inside or the surface of a material, or measuring certain physical quantities and tissue states of materials, on the premise of not damaging the material to be inspected. Non-destructive testing has been developed for more than 100 years. The inspection covers various fields of the mechanical processing industry, and the test objects are mainly metal materials and composite materials.

At present, in the field of non-destructive testing, the detection methods can be divided into two categories, one is the conventional non-destructive addition technology, commonly known as five conventional tests, including radiography (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), Penetration testing (PT), eddy current testing (ET), the theory of tear-free detection methods, the development of applications have matured, and various methods have complete international, domestic and industrial implementation specifications, testing standards, equipment standards. At the same time, it is also the most widely used detection method in various industries in China.

The other type is unconventional non-destructive testing, which mainly includes some detection methods that are mature in technology but only applied in a small scope, and new methods and technologies that have not been widely applied.
