Crack depth detection of concrete structural members

Crack depth detection of concrete structural members

(1) Single-sided flat measurement method---shallow crack
The sound propagation distance is limited, and it is commonly used to detect cracks with a depth of 500mm.

(2) Double-sided oblique measurement method---shallow crack
In industrial and civil buildings, cracks often occur in the mid-span or beam-column joints of the beam, and it is necessary to detect the depth and whether it is penetrated in the horizontal direction.

Drilling pair measurement method---deep crack
When the crack depth is above 500mm, drill the sound hole on both sides of the crack

When the crack depth is detected by ultrasonic method, it is required that there is no water and mud in the crack, because the signal quality obtained by the flat test method and the oblique test method is relatively poor, and the water and mud in the crack reduce the attenuation effect of the crack on the ultrasonic wave. It makes it more difficult to find the defect signal in the detection. In addition, the steel bars in the reinforced concrete members interfere with the propagation of the ultrasonic waves, so that the defect signals are not obvious. When the steel bars are thick and dense, it is not advisable to use ultrasonic methods to detect the crack depth.
